Insecurity: IG of Police orders withdrawal of existing PCRC Identity card – Daily Post Nigeria

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, on Tuesday in Abuja, held an all important meeting with the leadership of Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, from across the country.
The IGP in his address admonished the leadership to re-invigorate the tenets of the PCRC nationwide, in order to deepen the concept of Community Policing, which he described as a veritable instrument in achieving the mission statements of the Police under his leadership.
In the same light, the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu used the occasion to announce the decision of the Police leadership to suspend forthwith the PCRC ID cards currently in use by its members.
This, he said, had become necessary to checkmate the illegal proliferation of the said ID card by some criminally minded elements, who impersonate as members of the PCRC to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The statement added that a newly designed PCRC ID card would be issued to authentic members soonest.
